Hours:                 Part-time – 30 hours a week

Monday to Friday (term time) 2:00pm until 6:30pm, Saturday (term time) 7.5 hours (excluding break).

Term times; ASC & Saturday Club

Out of School Term times; Holiday Schemes Monday to Friday 08:30 until 4:30pm.

Contract:             Permanent

Location:             Kids Can Achieve, Harrow, HA3 6QJ

Pay:                      £22,687 per annum (Pro rata)

 

 

KCA is a charity with over 15 years of experience supporting children with learning disabilities in Harrow.

As Play Room Leader you will lead and plan activities for children aged 5 to 17 giving them the opportunity to learn through play, make choices and make friends through structure, routine, consistency and target setting that supports them to engage and learn.

You will ensure that the Early Years Foundation Stage is implemented and understood by all staff and effective processes are in place to capture outcomes and achievements.

You will work as part of the management team responsible to lead our play workers during play sessions such as After School Club and Play Schemes in order to enable children with learning disabilities and complex needs to enjoy mainstream activities in our centre.

We are currently looking for a Play Room Leader who:

  • Has experience of supporting services for children or young people with or without disabilities and planning learning activities.
  • Has excellent understanding of ways in which children and young people with or without disabilities need to be supported to reach their potential.
  • Has a recognised education / early years qualification to NVQ Level 3 or higher or who is willing to study toward the qualification as part of their role.
  • Have excellent communication skills and an ability to develop relationships.
  • Have a positive non-judgmental approach and ensure opportunity and choice.
  • Experience of providing activity based support in 1:1 or group based situations for children with disabilities and understand how to positively support children with behaviours that challenge.
  • Have excellent awareness of Health & Safety.
  • Have excellent understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Have excellent literacy and numeracy skills

This is a 30 hours a week post, however there is the opportunity to work additional hours for our Saturday Clubs or Holiday Schemes.

We are looking for applicants who have experience with learning/physical disabilities including those with moderate and severe and complex needs and behaviours that challenge.

Must have a good understanding of how to work with families.

Need to have the ability to work to set deadlines, working in a busy and multi-facet department. also have good organisational and time management skills.
