Play Leader – Kids Can Achieve

KCA is a charity with over 15 years of experience supporting children with learning disabilities in Harrow.

We are looking for an individual who is looking for the opportunity to make a difference and develop the provision of services to children with disabilities. You must have experience of working in child care or education environments and understanding of Learning Disabilities.

As Play Leader you will deliver our After School & Saturday Clubs and Holiday Schemes. You  lead and plan activities for children aged 5 to 17 giving them the opportunity to learn through play, make choices and make friends through structure and target setting.

You will lead our play workers during play sessions such as After School & Saturday Clubs and Play Schemes in order to enable children with learning disabilities and complex needs to enjoy mainstream activities in our centre.

We are currently looking for a Play Leader who:

  • Has experience of supporting children with or without disabilities and planning play activities.
  • Has excellent understanding of ways in which children and young people with or without disabilities need to be supported to reach their potential.
  • Has qualification in child care (NVQ) Level 3 or 2 or who is willing to study toward the qualification as part of their role. At least 2 years of experience of working in children settings.
  • Have excellent communication skills and an ability to develop relationships.
  • Have a positive non-judgmental approach and ensure opportunity and choice.
  • Have excellent understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.

We are looking for applicants who have experience with learning/physical disabilities including those with moderate and severe and complex needs and behaviours that challenge.

Must have a good understanding of how to work with families.

Need to have the ability to work to set deadlines, working in a busy and multi-facet department. also have good organisational and time management skills.
