The Westminster Society will be opening a new property on Shirland Road in the summer.
This latest development in partnership with Westminster City Council and Paddington Churches Housing Association will comprise of three 1 bed flats, providing accommodation for people with learning disabilities wanting independence of their own, but with the reassurance of a 24 hour support team based in the property for emergencies and day to day support.
The aim of the service is to provide stable and supportive housing which enables people to gain the skills and confidence necessary to live as independently as possible. The mixture of individual self contained accommodation coupled with a communal area will enable individualised support and also reduce the potential for social isolation as tenants will be able to meet each other and share communal activities, if they choose to do so.
By developing this service, we hope to continue the process of modernising our properties to enable the Society to better meet current and future housing need and provide more choice for people with learning disabilities.
With this change in need we shall also be redeveloping our current Shirland road property in to a similar development for a further four people, which will be finished at the end of the year.
You can keep up to date with our progress by looking in the housing section of our website where we'll be keeping a log of photos as the properties develop. Have a look at the latest photos here.
