Fundraising Event - 13th May 2007
07/06/2007
A Jazz Brunch was a new type of fundraising activity for The Westminster Society, and the event, held in the elegant surroundings of 6 York Gate on a damp May Sunday, turned out to have been a good idea.
Welcomed with a Bucks Fizz, the 70 guests mingled with acquaintances old and new, to the enjoyable background music of the Jonathan Harvey Trio. The delicious brunch was declared outstanding by many of the guests, during which our honorary MC John Franklin Webb ably conducted the auction and raffle draw, with the help of Colin Rennie who had organised the Dinners-for-Two draw.
A debt of gratitude is due to Appeals Committee member Bettie Politi, who is also a member of St. Marylebone Rotary Club. She arranged for us to have permission to use the Regents Park premises of Rotary International District 1130 HQ, a location which greatly contributed to the friendly atmosphere.
In expressing our appreciation to all those who attended and sent donations for their generosity, a major 'Thank you' must go to the global property consultants Knight Frank, who sponsored the event. Their magnificent contribution once again ensured the financial success of the event: a profit of over £4,500 which will cover the equipment required for our City Living music group, with additional funds for the Sunday lunch clubs at the Croxley Project.
