The Westminster Society is delighted to announce that a new service for people with learning disabilities and complex needs will be opened in February 2007.
As part of the joint strategic plan for learning disability services, Westminster City Council and Westminster PCT have jointly commissioned the Society to develop two new care homes for people with learning disabilities in Westminster. This is as a direct response to consultation with people with learning disabilities and their family carers, where they wanted more services in their local area.
The homes will enable 8 people with learning disabilities and very complex needs to live in Westminster with support from skilled care staff 24 hours per day. The service has been set up to respond to the growing needs of young people moving from children services, people placed in residential homes outside of the borough who wish to return to be near their families and those people who are living with older family carers.
