For the fourth consecutive year, residents of Portman Square and the local community of Marylebone attended the Portman Square Garden Party, raising money for The Westminster Society. This sell-out event, hosted by Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill, offered guests the opportunity to a slightly chilly Summer evening, whilst enjoying a magician, sumptuous cocktails, cool jazz and stunning cuisine.
Home House welcomed guests with a glass of champagne on arrival, while Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill created a selection of different food stations of dishes available at the hotel. From 25 day aged roast beef and Yorkshire puddings to traditional afternoon tea and home-made ice-creams, a feast was created to truly celebrate the occasion. Locanda Locatelli also supported the event by creating a Tiramasu station which was hosted by Georgio Locatelli.
This is the second year that The Westminster Society has benefitted from the support of the local community and in two years, The Portman Square Garden Party has donated over £26,000!
Local business from the community supported the collection of generous auction and raffle prizes.
The auction alone raised £6,900 and the raffle prizes raised £3,965.80 and a grand total of £13,254.71 was raised for the charity. On receiving the cheque, Shirley Rodwell of The Westminster Society, said ‘The outcome amazed us in the present economic climate, and can be attributed to the relaxed and friendly atmosphere created by the organisers, the high value and desirability of the prizes and the enthusiastic support of the guests. An unforgettable occasion greatly assisting a local Westminster charity. Thank you, one and all, for your generosity’.
Michael Gray, General Manager, Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill commented ‘Operating a Hotel in "Portman Village" emphasises the wonderful community feeling that certainly exists between residents and businesses of the Estate and its visitors, be they here for the day, for work or leisure, or for longer periods from far away destinations. We are delighted that on its fourth year, an event such as the Portman Square Garden Party continues to cement our relationship with the local residents and businesses’.
