About us

The Westminster Society for People with Learning Disabilities aims to provide quality services and new opportunities for people with learning disabilities and their families in Westminster, which covers an area of central London with St. Johns Wood in the north of the borough, Pimlico in the south, Covent Garden in the east and Bayswater in the west.

Services

We are continually developing the services we offer to people with learning disabilities and their families. Our current range of services include housing and community support as well as services for children and their families.

Housing Services

We have Registered Care services with around the clock support for 70 people and shared and individual supported housing schemes for 35 tenants. This enables over 100 people with learning disabilities to live in safe housing. We also provide a drop in service as part of our City Living Westminster scheme.

We provide a variety of housing, with support tailored to the individuals needs. This can range from 24 hour support for people who need a high level of physical care to those who live independently with minimal support.

Children, Young People and Family Services

The Rainbow Family centre provides services for children with learning disabilities and their families. The facilities at the Rainbow Family Centre include:

• A dedicated Nursery that gives children under the age of five the opportunity to reach their full potential in a safe and happy environment
• Play schemes with activities on and off site for children with learning disabilities aged between 5 and 16. These activities take place during the school holidays and half term
• Family advisors who provide support, advice and information for people with learning disabilities and their families

Community Services

We provide an outreach service to support people with learning disabilities living independently. This service (known as The Croxley Project) is for people living in their own home, or one managed by us, and it provides advice, support and information as well as holding a variety of social events.

Young people and adults with learning disabilities can access a range of educational and leisure activities. We have lots of groups meeting throughout the week, during the day, in the evening and at weekends. Our Short Break Outreach programme also provides respite for families and carers of children and adults with learning disabilities.
